ANNUAL
INSTALLATION RECEPTION.
. . Boyd Campbell, Century 21 Home Center, will be installed as
President of our Association on Thursday
evening, September 27th.
The Reception will be held in the Atrium of the Association
Office located at 8400 Corporate Drive, Landover, Maryland, from
5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Information

REMINDER NEW MARYLAND LEGISLATION IS
EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1.. . .New Laws regarding the following was enacted by the
2001 Session of the Maryland General Assembly: 1) required information to be
provided by a seller who elects to give a disclosure under the Maryland Property
Condition Dislclosure and Disclaimer Act regarding smoke alarms Smoke Alarms, 2)
required smoke detector disclosure in Residential Lease Forms, Be
sure to discard all old leases OR ADD an addendum with the required verbiage
when writing a lease. 3) legal obligations of real estate licensees with
respect to the deposit and distribution of deposit monies paid in connection
with residential contracts of sale, and 4) New Maryland Homebuilder Registration

EDUCATION DAY!!!. . . PGCAR will hold its
first Education Day on Thursday, October 11th, at the LaFontaine Bleu
in Lanham. In addition to
conducting 12 hours of continuing education, there will be an exhibit area with
25 sponsors available to provide you with important information, services and
products. The day long program will
conclude with a reception to allow you time to network and visit with fellow
REALTORS. Flyers were mailed to all
members last week. Be sure to mark
your calendar for October 11th!!
SENATE COMMITTEE APPROVES VA
LOAN LIMIT INCREASE. . . Last week, the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee approved
legislation increasing the VA mortgage loan limit ceiling.
The Bill, S.1088, the “Veterans’ Benefits Improvements Act of
2001,” increases the veterans guaranty amount to $63,175, permitting veterans
to obtain a mortgage loan up to $252,700. The
measure also includes a provision extending eligibility of reservists to
September 30, 2011. The Bill now
proceeds to the Senate floor for consideration when Congress returns from its
