Three PGCAR REALTORS® Honored as MAR Leadership Academy Graduates!
Annapolis, MD (April 24, 2007) - - Sonatta Camara of Keller Williams Preferred Properties, Michael Cerrito of Cerrito Realty LLC, and Cassandra Lewis of Murrell Inc REALTORS® were among the fourteen graduates from the Maryland Association of REALTORS® (MAR) Leadership Academy honored at ceremonies held Thursday, April 19 in Annapolis.
The MAR Leadership Academy was formed by REALTORS® who understand the important role they play in their community and the need to enhance the leadership skills, knowledge, and competencies of fellow REALTORS® interested in making a difference in their personal lives and in their communities.
Prince George's County Association of REALTORS® (PGCAR), one of sixteen local REALTOR® Boards/Associations in Maryland is a strong advocate and recognizes the importance of this program to our Association's future. PGCAR is proud to be so well represented by the 2007 graduating class and by prior Academy graduates.
The MAR Leadership Academy offers an intensive curriculum designed around the development of leadership skills, communications, strategic planning, legislative and government affairs and community involvement. Classes are conducted over 7 months and stress value of professional and personal commitment to professional, charitable and civic endeavors.
2007 MAR President Ilene Kessler states, "This program is near to my heart. I shared the vision of 2001 President Adam D. Cockey, Jr. and served as the first chairman of the inaugural Leadership Academy committee, which designed this program. The Association is so very proud of the 129 graduates beginning with its first graduating class in 2001."
President Kessler presented a special personal one-time scholarship to graduate Cassandra "Casey" Lewis from Prince George's County Association for her outstanding volunteerism within the Association and her community.
Vicki Cox Golder, NAR 2008 First Vice President Nominee and guest speaker provided inspiring testimony that "being in leadership today is not just making yourself successful, but making those around you successful too." She emphasized that "the fruits of this award go back to the community, Association, and family." She congratulated the graduates on their community activism and encouraged them to "work in organized real estate and move into association leadership.

The Maryland Association of REALTORS® is the largest Maryland professional trade association serving over 34,000 members and is dedicated to preserving the vitality of the real estate market.
