Such an unspeakable crime is difficult for us to comprehend. Although we cannot totally protect ourselves and our loved ones from every horrific act, there are some actions we can take to help protect us. Therefore, we urge all agents to be diligent about safety practices when showing homes or working with prospective buyers. You can visit NAR's website at www.realtor.org/libweb.nsf/pages/fg201 for tips and safety practices, which serve to help in a variety of business aspects and circumstances. Here are just a few:
- Always have your cell phone charged
- Never list your home phone on your business card
- Never advertise a property as vacant
- Always have prospects meet you at your office the first time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Samuel D'Costa's family and friends. In the memory of our beloved friend and co-worker, let us all use this time to come together as a community, be supportive of those around us, and look out for each others' safety.
